I need help with centerpieces for my destination wedding~?

We are going to key west to have out wedding. Usually traditonal weddings, one person takes home the centerpiece. Obviously with everyone flying in I doubt they would want the floral centerpiece. The wedding will be held outdoors, so it will be hot! I wanted some suggestions on different beach themed centerpieces, one idea I was thinking about was having a bowl with water and seashells and having floating candles and flowers, anyone have any other suggestions. Something simple but unique!

You could have various shapes and sizes of glass bowls filled with water, floating flowers and floating candles and/or glass bowls filled with sand, sea shells and a small pillar candle in the middle of each bowl (set up in the sand).

Or, you could get a little more creative and fill small square glass vases with sand and sea glass in your wedding colors or just blue and green to go with the beach theme with a small pillar candle in the middle. Or if you want a tasty centerpiece which could also serve as their favor, have the small square glass vases on each table filled with sand and then get the pretty rock candy on sticks and place them in the sand. You can order rock candy in any color you want to go with your wedding colors. Tie a small favor tag to the stick with a little message or even their name to double as a place card. The centerpieces would be colorful and they can take home a stick of rock candy as their favor.

Yes, most places WILL allow you to have glass, especially if it's vases, I see it done all the time. I don't think they're going to make your guests eat off of paper plates and drink out of styrofoam!
Reply:A large, low dish with sides that come up at least an inch. Fill with sand. Put one huge or several small candles in the sand. You could put a few large flowers around the display if you think it needs more.
Reply:yea,I don't think you can have glass anything on the beaches, but if you can the clear candles with the sand and small shells inside of them are really cool...it looks like the beach..and you could have your wedding date put on them..maybe with the clear stick on labels, cheaper
Reply:We're having a beach wedding, and my sister suggested putting a glass dish with some sand and flat seashells in them, and asking everyone at teh table to write a brief wish to you both (give them a sharpie too)...you can keep all the shells in a large vase in your new home as a keepsake of your wedding day...I think it's a really nice idea.
Reply:I like your idea.
Reply:If you can get your hands on some giant conch shells (with the critters gone and the shells boiled so they don't smell of course!) put them upside down and place a few gorgeous orchids coming out. Place 3 or more in the center of the table, surround w/ candles if you can. Voila! If you can find them on the beach before the wedding, they are free, and you will have a modern simple, but still beautiful object for the center of your table.
Reply:I say forget the glass, and just do the seashells. Most beaches don't allow you to have glass bottles, so i'm assuming they would give you a hard time. Besides, the bowls can become expensive. Depending on the time of day, you can use candles also to set the mood for the evening. A cheap idea for favors-- hit the local gift shop and pick up the preserved star fish. They are easy to travel with, and won't melt like candy. Good luck, have a great wedding.
Reply:What about big conch shells with a few candles around them?

Something like this....just with the candles around it.

I think many people would think it was neat to have these to take home, especially children or those with children.
