Centerpieces?

I'm the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding in August. We were on the phone talking about some of the plans she made today, and mentioned that because I love arts and crafts, she thought I could make the centerpieces for the tables. She thought candles and ivy would be pretty and different than a regular floral centerpiece. Do you have any ideas on what I could do? I looked a little online and couldn't find something I liked. I was thinking of maybe putting different sized pillar candles on a cake stand and maybe having the ivy around the base of the candles and flower petals sprinkled on the table. But don't people usually like to take the centerpieces home? It may be hard to put something like that in the car as opposed to a vase with flowers unless I glue the candles to the cake stand.

Centerpieces?
Yikes, this is a good way to lose your friend. Make her show you a picture of what she wants, or show her several pictures and make her choose. You can find pictures in bridal magazines and on florist websites. and then do one way ahead of time for her approval. Also, have them all done a week before the wedding in case she freaks out and changes her mind. Also, have a clear plan on who is paying, and how much. You are saving her hundreds of dollars by doing this for her.

I've only seen take-homes a small percentage of the time.

Reply:Check out these craft stores websites:

Michael's, JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby, Tall Mouse, Ben Franklin, %26amp; A.C. Moore.

Not all centerpieces need to be take home kind.

Working with candles, a single pillar in a glass hurricane, on a beveled piece of mirror, with ivy and maybe some silk flowers that go with her color scheme would be nice. All these supplies are available a Michael's Crafts, JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby, Tall Mouse, A.C. Moore and Ben Franklins as well as WalMart.
Reply:Strongly suggest that if you do this, you avoid anything that can be lit. You have only to watch 'Funniest Home Videos' to see how quickly guests can end up on fire, even if everyone's sober but especially if there will be any alcohol involved. There are all sorts of battery-powered tea lights and such available now - much safer.
Reply:I think what ever you do decide to do, make them month before the wedding and give them to someone you trust to bring to the wedding, cuz your going to be running your butt off and with that out of the way you can rest a little easier.
