NON floral centerpieces???

Good luck!
Reply:Lighted candles on a nice round mirror stand.
Reply:Why don't you have the grocery store bakery do 2 small square cakes (maybe 8 inches) decorated simply in your colors--stack them like gifts for each table. Add a ribboned cake knife at each table and the guests can serve themselves an addtional dessert!
Reply:We had friends do some floating candles in a bowl. It was made to look like a pond.

I had a neat idea last night, but unfortunately it doesn't go with my wedding colours.

My mom brought home some fruit flavoured twizzlers. Their all nice bright colours. Red, Orange, Blue, Green and Yellow. I thought it would be cool to get some clear flower vases and stick a whole pack of these twizzlers in each. Just need to make sure that the vase is shorter then the twizzlers so that they can fan out and hang a little over the top.

It would make a nice colour centerpiece that guest could eat. =)
Reply:candles, ice sculptures, mirrors with glass bowls, twigs and found items. I know there are DIY ice sculpture kits at Hobby Lobby
Reply:We, are planning our wedding for August. Instead of confetti we have decided to purchase scrap booking labels with words and sayings like "love", and "Two Hearts One Love". We will have a Small vase with clear stones (like you'd find in a fish tank) and a candle with these words and sayings scattered on the table around the vase.

Hope this helps
Reply:I don't have any links, but I am using apple colored Mosaic type vases w/ a candle in it, and I think they look beautiful, I'm sure you can find a vase in pink or lavender..either that or use a clear vase w/ pink and lavender marbles in the bottom, or clear vases w/ pink and lavender ribbon tied very neatly...good luck
Reply:I worked weddings for a number of years, setting up and banquet serving, and some of the coolest centerpieces weren't floral! The WORST were too tall....

One couple loved the seashore, so they had "bubble bowls" (pic: http://www.weddingflowersandmore.com/ima... ) with seashells and starfish inside, with a floating candle on top. VERY pretty, and everyone at the table could talk over it.

Another one I liked was different sized candles. Candles bring such a beautiful, warm effect to the table! It was similar to this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/40471077@N0...

Other good ideas are

sugared fruit ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/mercurialma... ), family photos,

Chocolates:

There's so much you can do with the season you're holding the wedding, your favorite things as a couple, and even incorporating the story of how you met, or significant events in your lives together! One bride I worked for had a different centerpiece for each table. Made it a bit more difficult to set up, but each table had something that related to the guests sitting there and how they knew the bride and groom!

Good luck!
Reply:use candles.
Reply:We're using herbs as centerpieces for our wedding in June. If lavender is one of your colors, I think it would be beautiful (and inexpensive) to have lavender as a centerpiece. You can purchase the herb at a nursery or you can also get it dried. Not only would it look beautiful but it would smell wonderful too. I've included a couple of links to pictures and also a link to a couple more ideas for "non-floral" centerpieces
Reply:beautiful glass vases with sand and seashells and a scented candle in it.
Reply:I have seen some people set up pictures of the bride and groom together - not just on their wedding day... I think that is kindof neat.
Reply:A great idea is to buy a square mirror (usually found in the candle sections) and put a few candles on it. The mirror reflects the light and it's just beautiful. Also some people use fish (kind of strange but different) and another idea is to get a poutpourri bowl tha'ts pretty good size, fill with water, and add floating candles on top. Also very pretty.
Reply:I used candles. I raided every second-hand store in the area and bought a ton of clear glass votives, enough for 4 per table. I borrowed mirror tiles from my MOH's wedding. it was simple, chic and best of all cheap. and re-usable. or if you don't need over 100 votives, just donate everything back to a second-hand store (esp one that donates profits to charity).

Also I went to a wedding that used vases as a Beta fish tank and the beta fish were all very exotic and they each had a bouquet of exotic flowers in them - they were very gorgeous!
Reply:A glass bowl with lit candles floating in water.
Reply:A candelabra would be beautiful!

Reply:Non-floral, huh? You don't really see that in the magazines. You could use a few different shaped vases in your colors grouped together. Pink and lavender complement each other so well, I bet it would look stunning. Ikea.com is a great source for cute, cheap vases.

Candles are are another idea. Like the vases, you could group a few of varying sizes togethor. You could set them directly on the table for a more casual look, or group them on trays in your jewelry color (like silver or gold) or mirrored trays to reflect the light. Again, try Ikea or Target. If you like a real unique look, use a few antique mirrors from a flea market or thrift store in similar colors. I think that would look stunning.

If you're going really casual, balloons would be another idea. But that might be a little too 'birthday party' for a wedding.

I've also seen one bride fill clear jars with candy in her colors and use those as centerpieces. Then the guests have something sweet to snack on too! You could use vintage looking ones (again, try your local flea markets or thrift stores, they're phenomenal for this kind of stuff on a budget) or for a more clean-cut look, try Ikea, Target, or the Container Store. Got a huge budget? Try Crate%26amp;Barrel or West Elm. Jellybeans are a great candy that comes in many colors, and you could also get M%26amp;Ms in your colors with your and your fiance's name printed on them, the date of your wedding or a special message. Check out http://www.candyfavorites.com/ They have a pretty good variety and sell in bulk.

There are also food centerpieces available. Try this article from DIY network (http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/le_other/a... or ask a wedding planner or culinary school in your area, or even your reception location. They could refer you to a shop in your area that creates these.

You could also just arrange the appetizers attractively on a multi-tiered cake. It's tall enough to attract attention and why not show off those treats you're paying so much for!

Hope some of this helps, and congratulations! I'm sure it'll be a beautiful wedding.
Reply:I've seen people put those "oversized" Champaine glasses on the tables with a beta fish in them. This looks REALLY pretty. You can buy marbled stones or crystals to use as "rocks" in there, and add ribbon or whatever to the glass to decorate. I've only seen it once, but it was SO cool. Then guests got to take the fish home at the end of the day. Could be pricey, but it's really pretty.
Reply:I believe it's bellaterra.net. CUTE boxes. I used the take out boxes for my 30th birthday party. My best friend is using a pedestal or charger and putting some of these boxes on them for her wedding. The boxes are filled with chocolates and they are her favors as well. She kills 2 birds with one stone...
